What they say.
We have had Rachel on board at Snowy providing a broad range of services including media and communications training for a number of years. She is professional, warm and engaging but don’t be fooled – she can be very direct and forthright when she needs to be. I can highly recommend Rachel and Mediafriendly.
We have worked with Rachel on a number of issues over the last 18 months. I say ‘worked with’ because what Rachel offers is more than just media training. It feels like she’s there to help plan and prepare with us as well as train our people. We’ve had her alongside us on some big slow-burn projects and some issues which have popped up unexpectedly. She is knowledgeable, calm and engages incredibly well with people from all parts of our business. As a Corporate Affairs professional, I also feel that she offers me the confidence of knowing I’ve made the right call on an issue or helped me really test my decisions. I couldn’t speak highly enough of Rachel and feel she has been a huge part of our success on several big issues. I’d be more than happy to provide further feedback to anyone by phone.
Rachel and the team at Media Friendly are at the top of their game. We trust them to understand the story and how that translates to the needs of our different stakeholders. Working across a range of projects together; spanning media training, technical reports, annual reports and media releases, the team asks the right questions and let’s their expertise shine in the end result. As a marketing manager, I need great media partners to grow my organisation and Media Friendly capabilities are essential to help us achieve our strategic objectives.
Rachel is great to work with. She is engaging and builds rapport with clients quickly but is also direct and disarming when the situation requires. Rachel has developed and run a number of media training and communications workshops for our pharmaceutical, health care and lifestyle clients. We have also utilised Rachel’s journalist experience to write expert commentary for industry publications. If you are looking for someone who is knowledgeable and skilled in the communication field and is a pleasure to work with, then I highly recommend Rachel.
Hi Rachel, I wanted to write and thank you for all the guidance you have given me in regards to my public speaking. The pointers you encouraged me to work on have given me the ability to speak confidently and to be able to handle different situations. I appreciate all your help. Thanks again.
Rachel, thanks very much for all your work with us over the last two days. It has been a great success and helped us enormously. You have a wonderful manner, great insight and can switch roles incredibly easily. It was great working with you.
Rachel Friend from Media Friendly delivered some Media Training to 6 of our players. She provided a range of different interview strategies the players may face during their time playing Rugby League. Her presentations have been clear and concise and ones that the players found very interesting and informative. We at South Sydney are already seeing the fruits of some of the training these boys have undertaken. I can thoroughly recommend Rachel to any organisation and we look forward to her doing more work with the Rabbitohs in 2014.
“Mediafriendly trainer, Rachel Friend provided the team with a highly beneficial and relevant training course with many practical applications and techniques. The interview practice sessions with the professional cameraman felt real and ideal for our needs. Our team now understands how the media can work to our benefit. It was great to be trained by Rachel – we all loved it.”
“Rachel recently provided media training for the Australian Podiatry Association (NSW & ACT) for an audience of 20, where I am currently contracted to manage media and communiations. The training was delivered in a highly effective, professional, yet friendly manner with excellent audience engagement. Even with a large group, Rachel ensured that two way discussion and involvement occurred, so no one was left out. The day was well organised and run on time, with plenty of opportunity for key people to have interview practice. The feedback from delegates was excellent. I can totally recommend Rachel for media training and any other public relations activities you may be considering working with her on.”
Grant Thornton engaged Mediafriendly to run a series of media training workshops across two industry sectors: Energy and Mining and Real Estate and Construction. Rachel Friend took the time to tailor the workshops to meet our brief and to research the sectors thoroughly so that she could challenge the partners in various interview scenarios. The partners came away with a much better understanding of what can happen when talking to a journalist, how to successfully push back on questions and how to get their key messages across. Rachel has worked across several media platforms and her experience really showed. I’d recommend Mediafriendly to any company that is considering media training.
“Rachel is an outstanding operator – she is knowledgeable, personable and professional. She is also a friendly person with warm delivery and in her role as Media Trainer these attributes and qualities are invaluable to help her trainees feel at ease and comfortable in navigating the tricky business of doing media interviews. Given her vast skills and experience, Rachel is excellent value for $ and I highly recommend her company for media training and presentation skills. I especially liked that Rachel has come from the industry itself and thus has first hand knowledge of what the media want.”
‘I would recommend this course to others because it brilliantly illustrates what can and does happen in the media. The course and content was a revelation for me. I now look and listen to media interviews with a totally different viewpoint.’
‘Rachel is an excellent coach, highly informative and interesting. I would highly recommend Rachel to other senior executives for media coaching.’
Rachel, this was an excellent session. I appreciated you tailoring it for me and having taken the time to research the issues and ensure the content was most relevant. The practical experience of doing interviews was very challenging but such a valuable learning tool”.
As a former player and now working in management at the NRL, I get asked to speak in front of large groups all the time. After working with Rachel through her public speaking program I picked up skills and tips to improve my talks and even worked to correct bad habits I never knew I had! If you’re serious about public speaking and want to be the best you can be..Rachel should be your best Friend! (no pun intended, it now comes naturally..thanks Rach! )
Rachel offered invaluable lessons, from simple things like knowing where to put my hands to feeling comfortable in leaving my written speech and ad libbing. The training made me more relaxed when planning and running live events, and I have already put this advice to good use when chairing Q&As.
Rachel is incredibly easy to work with and extremely professional. I originally contacted her to host a webcast panel show and discovered she could also offer us a wide range of talents including writing articles and scripts, planning PR campaigns and producing corporate videos. Rachel is unusual in that she is both creative and pragmatic, on top of the small details while able to offer big-picture strategies. She really knows her stuff and has achieved results well above our expectations – and dare I say, our budget!
I absolutely loved working with Rachel, she made me feel empowered every step of the way! She encouraged me to tell my story proudly, in front of a camera- with all the tricks of the trade! Her training method was efficient, to the point and uplifting. The coaching book provided makes a great tool for future reference. I would recommend this course to anyone, especially my Indigenous brothers and sisters! Thanks Rachel, you’re DEADLY!!
Rachel has now run several “Personal Branding’ workshops with Hemisphere HR and with resounding success. Rachel possesses the natural ability to relax her audience, allowing them to open up and share in her practical, down-to-earth and highly effective communication skills; providing real value and genuine substance for the corporate world. Based on the consistently positive feedback from over 60 Directors and Senior Managers from a diverse range of industries including; Financial & Professional Services, Manufacturing & FMCG, Telco & IT to Mining Resources & Energy, Rachel’s own personal brand and commercial offering has clearly resonated, resulting in what has now become an ongoing demand for a series of similar forums. Her proposition appears to work across management groups, for specific teams and also one-on-one. If you think you have heard it all before and looking for something fresh, I cannot recommend Rachel highly enough.
Rachel Friend brings the skills she honed as a formidable and credible journalist to media training, where she is outstanding in thoroughly preparing people to present to the media.
We all agreed that this was one of the best training workshops we had ever done with Fosters. Thank-you so much. It was fun, relevant, engaging and professional.
Thanks for the assistance and the media training session. I found the session very informative and enjoyable. Thanks for helping define the process and strategy.
“intouch Home Loans engaged Rachel to facilitate a communication workshop for 20 of intouch licenced principals. We found Rachel not only to be an expert in communication but extremely engaging, informative and really challenged our self employed licencees to become better. Rachel is a first class operator and we would have no problem recommending her or engaging her services again”
I didn’t know what to expect. The comments, information and feedback were great and I now feel better equipped to get my messages across. This has been invaluable. Thank you!
Rachel proved to be an intelligent and understanding presenter. Her work with members of the RTA Speedblitz Blues and NSW Breakers developed the media skills of the players significantly and she was able to create an excellent environment where individuals felt comfortable enough to learn. The sessions were well thought out and informative and I would highly recommend Rachel for future work.
Rachel provided me with some valuable presentation techniques for my new business initiatives. She cut to the chase, simplified my key message and provided me with the confidence to use these skills to my new and existing clients. I have since been consulting Rachel for over 4 years and would recommend her media and presentation coaching skills to anyone.
I found the course extremely worthwhile and would encourage everyone who faces the media to be prepared and be open to training and feedback.
“I have worked with Rachel over the last 10 years on a range of different projects, across several different industries. With an in-depth knowledge of the media industry and excellent communication skills (both written and verbal) our collaborations have included everything from MCing events for InStyle magazine, managing the PR department at Harlequin Enterprises and media training and crisis media management for Easy Being Green. Rachel is a rare creature who can adapt her skills to the project in hand and deliver excellent results. I would recommend Rachel to any business, as she is a huge asset!”
It has been my pleasure to employ and work with Judy Goldman on three occasions where she delivered executive-level media training to senior managers at UTS. The training Judy delivered was highly engaging, practical, pitched appropriately to deal with the kinds of issues that a University must face in the media and left a lasting impression. The feedback from participants was universally positive and they continue to comment on aspects of what they learned today.
Judy and Rachel, this was a great course with lots of new content. It was engaging and I learned more than I was expecting. Well done!
I was faced with a TV media interview which required expert help. It was a two minute spot under pressure leading into the news; one of the most demanding and difficult interviews to do. You only get one chance and it had to be nailed. There is no time to go back and explain. High stress, high performance. Judy knew exactly what to do. Her guidance and professional advice was spot on.
